What is the Maker District?

The Delmar Maker District is a collaborative effort to establish a community of creative entrepreneurs along Delmar between

Union and Kingshighway.

The Delmar Maker District is driven by a concept of LIVE - MAKE - SELL: giving current & prospective artisans and makers a place to learn, create and thrive while injecting new life into a stretch of Delmar longing for investment.

The goal of the district is to create an environment to attract artisans, designers, makers, and entrepreneurs of all walks of life who will live, make, and sell their goods. The Maker District creates a destination for both locals and tourists to create, shop, learn, and socialize.

Due to Delmar's historic reputation as a racial and socioeconomic divide, those supporting the District prioritize equity and accessibility with each decision. A development committee consisting of area residents, business owners, community leaders and other professionals has been formed to ensure the concerns of the surrounding community are at the forefront of the decision making process.
